Red ribbon club

The Red Ribbon Club (RRC) is a comprehensive promotional and preventive intervention to enhance voluntary blood donation as well as mainstream HIV & AIDS prevention, care & support and treatment impact, mitigation, and stigma reduction, among the youth in educational institutions. It will also prepare and promote youth peer educators within and outside the campuses. The Red Ribbon Club in the college is effectively taking part in all such activities under the coordination of Mrs Jaya. V, Asst. Professor in Management.

OBJECTIVES

1. To create awareness among youth on health and HIV/AIDS.

2. To improve skills among youth on self-protection.

3. To educate the students to participate in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

4. To create awareness and promote voluntary blood donation to youth.

5. To motivate youth and build their capacity and develop their skills on leadership and team building.

6. To serve as forums for students to participate in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

7. To promote voluntary blood donation among youth.

8. To motivate youth and build their capacity as peer educators and change agents by developing their skills on leadership, negotiation, and team building. 

ACTIVITIES

1. National Blood Donation Day

An awareness class on “Post-Covid care and Blood Donation” was conducted for students by Dr Prince C.P (Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Mother Theresa Post Graduate & Research Institutes of Health Sciences, Govt. of Puducherry).

2. World Aids Day Awareness Programme

The Red Ribbon Club of the college organised a world AIDS day awareness programme on 1st December, 2022. Aswathy Mahesh, Jyothis Councillors Govt. Taluk Hospital, Haripad, delivered a speech on “Global Solidarity & Shared Responsibility”.

3. National Youth Day Programme

National Youth Day is celebrated on 12th January to highlight the youth who are the future of our country and to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, who always motivated the youth of our country and spoke about the right use of youth in the development of the country. As part of the youth day programme a fish pond was constructed on the college campus.

National voluntary Blood Donation campaign was organized by the Students and also a quiz competition was conducted in relation to this Campaign.
