Socio - Economically Disadvantaged Group cell
(SEDGs) in colleges refer to students from disadvantaged backgrounds who face
social and economic challenges that hinder their academic success. SEDG Cell in
a college is a support system that aims to promote equality and inclusivity for
students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds.These groups may
include:
Categories of SEDGs
1. Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST):
Historically marginalized communities.
2. Other Backward Classes (OBC): Socially and
educationally disadvantaged groups.
3. Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): Students
from low-income families.
4. Women and Girls: Facing gender-based
discrimination and disparities.
5. Students with Disabilities: Facing physical,
sensory, or intellectual disabilities.
6. Minority Communities: Students from minority
religious or linguistic groups
Objectives
